The client is a university from Israel that focuses on studying chronic pain.

The main challenge was to make the platform to collect both user responses on daily basis, and comprehensive readings from Fitbit.

The app operates with sensitive data, so it must be HIPAA compliant.

After investigation stage the decision was to make a cross platform mobile app for study participants.

Python backend is fetching data from Fitbit API, and performs complex analysis and processing.

The whole system and development process were designed in compliance with HIPAA standards.

Technology stack:

  • ReactNative mobile app
  • Python Django backend

The flow was implemented with respect to UX.

Offline capabilities of the app allow to pass questionnaires even without internet connection.

Fitbit data

Dozens of health indicators and metrics are fetched from FitbitAPI.

This allows scientists to have a real time access to the data of participants.

04

Voice recordings

Participants are able to record their voice comments.

This allows to collect even more detailed data for the study.

Recording capabilities support offline mode.
